Pregnancy and scan

Hi everyone. I recently found at i'm pregnant after 7 months of trying. I'm not even 6 weeks gone yet so it's very early. Obviously i'm extremely nervous at these early stages and am very anxious to see if the baby is ok. Do you know when diabetics have there first scan? Is it earlier than 12 weeks?

Hi congratulations!!i was told recently by a DSN in a pre conception appt you would have one at 7-8 weeks to confirm a heart beat. So pretty soon! How exciting.

Congratulations to you, it's amazing when especially when u've been trying so long, I was almost a year. I got my 1st scan at 7 weeks as I had bleeding, but my 1st official was at 8 weeks. Then again at 12, and another monday, I'll be 18 weeks. The Diabetec anti natal dept shld take great care of u. I have been every 2 weeks & they stay on top of everything quite well. Tho I have to say the dietitians have a much better idea of what's happening with u & give better feed back and support then the Dr's. Keep well & enjoy it, if u don't already carb count then follow them up if they offer u it. I hadn't ever done it before & have to say it's fantastic. Good Luck!!

Hi, I'd been going to the preconception clinic and told them as soon as I found out, I was whisked in the next week for the usual 12 week booking appt at just 6 weeks. Had a scan and confirmed heartbeat. 12 week scan was also fine but now I'm 16 weeks and have a few niggling worries that the next scan seems so far away and things could still go wrong in the meantime.

U shld defo get ur fetal anomaly scan at 18weeks instead of 20, make sure they have u booked in, I know how anxious it makes u feel, I turned up to the wrong hospital for mine yesterday and now have to wait until Friday, I just want to know baby is well...!! It's scary but I'm sure all will b fine, keep optimistic!!

I've just got a letter for my first midwife appointment and it will be when i'm 9 weeks. That's not even seeing the diabetes specialist i woke up at 9.2 this morning and i need advice now, not when i'm 10 weeks gone.
My sugar levels have been quite good apart from quite a few hypos but its the highs i'm worried about.
Also i do quite a lot of exercise and i get highs after that in double figures, which i've always done but when your pregnant its a worry. Do i just stop exercising? I dont know if it will affect the baby the same as getting highs through eating.

U shld b seen asap , as soon as I told them I was pregnant I had an appt at the Diabetec antenatal clinic, I was only 2-3 weeks. U r meant to get your first scan at 8 weeks, if I were u I wld call the midwife as soon as u can. If u're Diabetec then u're not being treated appropriately. Are u type one?? Please call them, u need to see them right away!! U don't need to stop exercising, just focus on getting ur bloods down. I suffered from a lot of highs at the start as my body was adjusting to the changes and when they decided to change insulin it took a good 3 weeks to get them down. Everything so far is ok with baby....fingers crossed for Friday

I rung them today. They didn't even have me down as diabetic! This is meant to be one of the leading high risk pregnancy specialists in the u.k! Slight worry. They said they'll send me a letter for the diabetes specialist which will be before my this midwife appointment. They did say though i won't get my first scan till 12 weeks even though i'm type 1. Such a worry. Apart from my high this morning i've been low and quite stable apart from a hypo.

I attend the clinic every 2 weeks and my first scan was at 8 weeks which all diabetics get, I don't understand why u're not?? I keep in contact with the Diabetec Dieticians via email and they respond quite promptly to any questions I might have!! U really shld be more persistent with them I think

Congrats!! I was the same 7 months to conceive with this pregnancy and is my second..I attended a pregnancy clinic prior to concieving but I now be seen every 2 weeks and had early scan 8 weeks now waiting date for my 12 week one as im 10 weeks now... also exercise alot but my bs go down rather than up..do u do alot of weights as they actually make bs rise?
 
No i do weights and cardio. With cardio i do interval training and that makes it shoot up. I play regional netball. Netball is probably the worst for me but i can only think that it's because of the adrenaline kicking in and the intensity.
I'm in london so i guess when you get a scan etc might vary because of the area people live in. I'm still awaiting my diabetes clinic appointment i'll have to ask then

If you definitely know you're going to go high and you know roughly when it will be, you could try taking a correction dose of insulin. The highs are not great for the baby. Perhaps you could try something more low impact?

I had an antenatal appt with the diabetes team last Tuesday and they used a doppler so that I could hear the baby's heartbeat but I have to say it sounded more like mine. Isn't the baby's supposed to be fast...? Anyway that afternoon I started to feel the baby move and I've felt it quite a bit since.

I think that was what worried me - between 12 week scan and waiting for signs of movement at 18 weeks plus! or the 20 week scan - it just seemed like a really long time. I'm glad I started to feel the baby quite early. Anomaly scan booked for 2 weeks on Thursday so it doesn't seem so far away now. Hope everything will be ok as we're on holiday for a week after that!

Now my concern is - if I'm feeling the baby move early, does that mean it's going to be a biggy?! My control is good but that doesn't mean the baby won't be a whopper does it? I have suddenly put on weight in the last few weeks too although that may be because I didn't put any on for the first 3 months. LOL

Congrats!
I've finally been seen by the clinic, and had an early scan which was fine.
I'm trying my best to get my bg within target an hour after meals but it's not easy.
Almost 9 weeks now, a long way to go!
