My daughter is 30 weeks pregnant and her sugar levels have been in the 500's last couple of days. This is her 2nd pregnancy, the first her sugars were not this high. I have been telling her that she needs to go into hospital so the Dr's can figure something out, but because her doctor, hospital is 2 hours away she does not want to leave her daughter. I just need some advice on what to do! Please!
Go to hospital ASAP, take daughter with her and they will arrange care for her daughter until a family member can get there. High blood sugars can trigger early labour, at 30 weeks the baby will have a very good (as in almost 100% - same as a full term baby) chance of survival but no point taking any risks.
This article lays out the prospects very well: http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/001597.htm
Again, please do not hesitate. Get to a healthcare provider professional asap to get the blood sugar under better control.
As Scimama rightfully states above, the hospital/care provider will also be able to accommodate for her daughter.
