Hi
I have just been diagnosed! Someone has told me I should be able to get free prescriptions. Is this right and how do I go about it? Thanks in advance x

If you are prescribed medication for your diabetes, then all prescription charges are free for any medications for any health problems. You need to ask the surgery for an exemption card.

If I remember correctly you will have to fill a form in and your GP will sign it and send away. You should if eligible receive an exemption card in the post. So the sooner you start the process the better.

If you have any prescriptions before you get the card ask the pharmacist for an appropriate receipt then you can reclaim costs when you get the card
