Type 1 PRIVATE MEDICAL COVER

In UK, I doubt you will find any company willing to take you as a new customer, to cover your T1, and even those offering employer cover (which often ignore pre-existing conditions) will limit cover for chronic conditions.

If you are an employee, does your employer offer any cover?

My employer unfortunately does not offer any cover. I was living in South Africa 2 years ago and their private medical schemes cover chronic illnesses after a year of joining them. I have searched everywhere here to find something similar but can't find. The last time I saw a doctor for diabetes was beginning of last year. Most providers here offer options with moratorium periods, usually one or two years, but not usually for the likes of diabetes, certain types of arthritis and the like.

I used to work for the parent company of a PMI provider, and when I left, I was able to retain my senior management employee legacy terms, but even with those levels of cover they squirm at anything they consider to be diabetes related. Suffice to say there have been some "lively" discussions on the topic.

If you find a form meeting your needs I (and likely lots of other forum members) would be curious to hear who it is.
