Hi everyone, before I was diagnosed with type 2 last month I used to and still do ride my mountain bike, for my post ride drink I'd have a protein shake, will this still be okay or will I have to have something else, and if so is there any suggestions.

Just check the carbs. Some protein shakes have quite a lot of carbs/sugar in them. There are some out there which are reduced sugar. USN diet fuel, PhD also do one (diet whey, I think), and Atkin's shakes aren't too bad either.
also check the protein, it's generally accepted that diabetics should keep to their RDA of protein 40-70g a day
you may be better with some cheese and nuts
