Are your levels just generally a bit high? If that's the case then maybe your basal dose needs looking at.
Or are you noticing post meal readings higher even when you've dosed correctly for carbs? Then it might be the protein. Have you tried eating just a protein meal and seeing what that does to your blood sugar without a bolus? The sort of rise you get might give you a good indication on how to bolus for protein.
I bolus for protein. I use the same ratio as for my carbs, but I manually halve it by telling my pump I'm having only 50% of the actual grams of protein that I'm eating. Then I tell my pump to extend the protein bolus over a couple of hours. Protein is probably going to raise your blood sugar slower than carbs.
It will be trial and error for you to work out how to bolus for protein.
