Please could somebody offer a clear / concise explanation on how protein affects bloods sugars and how i might take that into consideration when controlling my bloods, if i were to eat very low carb meals from time to time. (not all the time)

Much thankings in advance

I have to inject for white fish and prawns, but not any other protein. No idea why just those! The fat content of the meal doesn’t seem to affect it either. I inject for half the protein - so if I’d take a unit for 10g carbs, I’d take a unit for 20g protein. It’s a much slower rise that pretty much matches to profile of Novorapid (for me).

Weird one from me but I used to go super high (20s) from eating a large steak and higher the rarer the meat was. Probably just me and it’s the only time I use a 6-8 hour square wave bolus on pump. I’ve not yet found any precise guidance and certainly not any that relates to my experience; sorry!

Thank you.

I'm going to eat a few very low carb meals and observe my BG's
Plant protein and eggs don’t seem to affect me much. Not enough to bolus for, at least. I may need maybe half a unit correction after a couple of hours, but that could be due to BG just drifting up anyway.
