Pulmonary embolism and diabetes

Get your blood sugars and your cholesterol down as both make your blood thicker if they are too high.

Having raised blood/glucose levels carries with it increased risks. I was place on a low dose Aspirin 75mg twice daily 20 years ago when I suddenly lost my sight in one eye and glaucoma was then subsequently discovered as well as diabetes.
The Aspirin that I take is to keep my blood thinned and prevent any further blockages from occurring in my eyes. Many individuals I know are prescribed Warfarin for this very reason. You must also ensure that your cholesterol a, blood reassure and blood/glucose are well controlled if you are diabetic and that your diet is appropriate and avoids all those unhealthy saturated fats, and use only the beneficial ones.

I have had 2 episodes of blood clots (bleedin painfull) . both times they started in my right leg.

1st time it scattered and went to lungs and 2nd event was from knee to thigh when they caught it.

I'm now on warfarin for life with regular INR checks at hospital.

Risk is somewhat elevated due to prevalence of diabetics to stroke/heart problems.

The upside is that they have found them before they have had a big effect by moving to either heart or brain as that can be fairly catestrophic
