Pump on holidays

Ohh, holidays!

I would look at this the other way around..is there somewhere on your body...I am thinking upper bum cheek, the bit you don't sit on...that you could put the infusion set you are happy with?

Due to the aftereffects of 2 C scetions, I don't wear bikinis..certainly not the itsy bitsy type anyway, but if your bikini is not too brief i would look for somewhere else to put the cannula.

Steel canuala are very popular, and many prefer them...not painful. I am not famiiar with the ones you mentioned though.

I just brazened it out last year, but I don't like the pale circles left all over my legs where the cannulas were sited. With all that tubing & trying to find somewhere to hang it, I don't think a cannula in my thigh made a lot of difference. (the "bum site" idea would solve the pale circles thing too so is a good one, but not for me who wears a diddy bikini!)

My related question is: does anyone know if there is a frio-type pouch with a clip rather than just a belt loop? They're a good idea, but hopeless if you're not wearing a belt. I had to just drop my pump in its frio pouch beside me on the sunbed last year; I don't know how many times I got up & walked off while it bounced along the floor behind me until I wondered what was pulling on my leg!

hi, i've heard of frios but never knew there was one for the pump i take it this is so the insulin doesn't get too hot on hol??

There is one for the pump, my problem with it is that it only has a fabric loop on the back not a clip, so has to be looped onto a belt carried in a pocket. My DSN assures me that it will keep the insulin & pump cool enough, but I guess it's still a good idea to keep it out of direct sunlight where possible.

main reason i asked was that I have just been discussing going away with my dsn and frio was never mentionned, I know that I need to keep it out of direct sunlight but i was going to keep it covered argh :?

I think it was about £15, Google "frio". Just pop the pump in it & plonk the whole caboodle under the sunbedl in the shade. Just don't forget to pick it up or you'll end up in a right pickle as I invariably do

I found that I could disconnect from the pump for a several hours if I reall wanted to swim or sunbathe.
I just connected up every so often and gave missing basal.

The frio pump case is ok but very big and heavy. So just use it to store pump in under your sunbed when disconnected :wink:
