My son has just started using the pump this week so i followed a pouch tutorial online to wear round his waist. It's fine but the wire won't stay in the pouch! We tuck it in and zip it up tight but 5 mins later it's out again. It's causing nursery concerns as it is a hazard and gets caught by other kids. Does anyone have a solution to this? Thanks in advance.

Hi @Purpl1sh ,

When I started on my pump six months ago I found that I was fearful of getting the hosepipe caught on something - so while I got used to it I taped the hosepipe to my skin in a couple of places.

I have a brilliant pouch for my pump (I'm fully grown, so I don't know how your little 'un's one compares) and I always wrap the hosepipe round and round the pump, so there's not much spare, before I pop it into the pouch. That way it can't escape. If you do that and then perhaps Micropore it to his skin in 2 places - where it leaves the pouch and then again close to the cannula, it might make it less likely to be pulled on.

Hope he's getting on well with it otherwise.

Tape!! I did not think of that. Thank you, will try it. Doesn't seem to bother him but the nursery are concerned about it being a hazard.- he's 4.

First week so only on saline but go live with it next week!

Thank you.

Awwwwww, only 4 - bet he's cute as a button!

Hope it all goes well, @Purpl1sh - it'll all become second nature very quickly, I'm sure.

Just roll the excess into a hosepipe and tape it, also always put a bit of tape a couple of cm from the cannula this way any tug on the line wont yank out the cannula the tape takes the strain
