Question about Dawn Phenomenon & when to test

Hi All.

How soon after I wake up should I be testing my BG?
The reason I ask is that my husband gets up at 5am , he alarm is NWA express yourself which I can't sleep through. He's also apparently incapable of being quiet so often I end up awake until he leaves. I then go back to sleep for a bit until my, less inappropriate alarm goes off.

So should I just get up and test at 5am? Or leave it til i get up properly? I'm worried I might be in a false sense of security because i don't tend to test til about 7ish atm.
