So i have started my lantus switchover as of half 6. I had my tea, done my rapid. Now usually id have something to eat by now but havent, then id have something to eat before bed. Someone please tell me if i will be okay having something to eat before bed (doing correct rapid injection) then going to sleep?? Thats okay right?

Not sure what your asking, if you eat and inject before bed you have to be aware that your quick-acting insulin will be active for up to 4 hours.

So should i eat and not inject?

Im saying that how can i sleep safe tonight? Providing myself with a snack before bed for safety..

On basal/bolus you don't need to snack, but if your bg levels are low then it's wise to have something to eat before bed.

Oh, so at my current level - 7.0 mmol id be safe to sleep.. No food?!

Is this your first night on lantus after novamix?

With lantus there's no reason to eat before bed unless your basal level is wrong (too high)

If this is your first night on lantus though I would probably follow your old routine for a day.

As you've just moved onto basal/bolus I'd test a couple of times through the night just to be sure your bg doesn't go low, for most people a bg level of 7mmol/l would be fine to go to bed on but they would only do so knowing that their basal dose was set at the right dose.

Great! Thanks thats helped me out a bit. My readings have now went up to 12.3 though :/

That was a quick rise, you should note down all your bg readings and ask your DSN to advise you on your insulin doses. Good luck.

I slept fine, woke up with a reading of 14.0 (ignore the readings i have my reason why it is this) but i done my rapid, the correct amount at 9.00 and had breakfast.. A little while later (hour and a half) it has went off to 17.0.. Now tryinh not to worry i head out on a bike run to try and get the level down.. It had now went to 13.0.. About 15 mins later i test again for curiosity and its went to 17.0 again?! Please someone try to make sence of this but dont worry me anymore please :/
