Type of diabetes
Treatment type
Tablets (oral)
i was told I had type 2 last April and have since lost 4st 3 lbs .my last ac1 test was 5.3 and everything else was normal my bmi is still 3 points off healthy weight .
I was told last year I had pcos and had a load of tests I also had swabs late last year and have had two smear tests in the past 12 months ,apart from having functioning cysts everything else can back ok I also had a biopsy it fact it was while I was having all these tests that they found out I was díabetic.
Anyway can diabetes cause spotting between periods I have also noticed that my blood sugar is about 3.7 when this happens . Sorry for the long post but I am worried sick I never seem to get many answers from the doctors I just wish I knew what was normal and what was not. I am going to book an appointment to see the dr again and will not doubt be poked and prodded again .
So more info I am 43 and a bit depressed at the moment I am living in another country at the moment and desperate to go home so I don't know if that has anything to do with things.
Sorry for the long moaning post just don't have anyone I can talk to about this ,thanks in advance .

PCOS = poly cystic ovaries syndrome .
Shifting weight is harder with this condition as it can affect hormones,
menstrual cycle and the body's metabolism speed too .
Making you feel more sluggish than you should feel .

Peri-menopause can cause erratic 'spotting menstrual cycles' with some ladies .
Have they tested for this ?
Your HbA1c results and weight loss are great by the way
Only thing I can think of - is possible peri-menopause ?
Ovaries less supply of oestrogen happening - plus the PCOS

Could you write a list of your worries and questions .
Take along a close friend or possible relative for moral support .

Tell them the HCP's you really wish to be proactive about it all .
Appreciate some clearer sense of direction and answers
to your questions .
Get them to agree to take this more seriously as it is your health matters .
HCP'S like lists - to answer too , they usually see them as proactive .

Explain about your lower BG levels, sense of depression and wish/need to
return home etc.
Request a care plan to put into place to tackle these issues .
Let them know how you are really feeling - is a step in the right direction .

No problem with a moan or any further questions here .
Ask away its what we are here for - to support and listen .

i have noticed that i regulary have a period every 2 weeks. i,m 52.

Thanks for the replies I have an appointment tomorrow I am taking my husband in with me so he will be able to catch the things I missed . Thanks again

Please let us all know how things go .
Be great to have update on this .
It could help many other ladies here .

Just an update been to doctors this morning I have to go and see a gynocolagist and my have more tests doctor thinks I may have to go on birth control she also thinks it could be peri menopause. I am going to ask about a hysterectomy .
I have also been taken off my diabetes tablets because of my levels going below before 4 a lot of the time which is good I wanted to be able to control it without drugs for as long as I can .

The hormones from your possible peri menopause
can affect the BG levels temporarily .
Making things a bit more confusing for you .

Menopausal hormones will be erratic and changeable .
This is with the lesser natural hormone production.
Effecting both your monthlies menstruation and your own body too .
Impact also on the BG levels till hormones regulate or settle down with/without
medical medication or birth control help .
This could explain your crashes to the lower BG levels .

How do you feel in general now ?
Understand to be diabetes med free would be a bonus for yourself now .
To prevent the frequent unpredictable too low BG levels .

Giving you more stability and self control over this .
I hope you make progress soon .
This cant have been pleasant for you .

I have an appointment with a gynocolagist on next Friday so hopefully she will be able to give me some answers at last.
Thanks for the reply
