I am a A- level food tech student and am currently doing a coursework project for diabetics, in which I hope to design a meal/pudding that will be aimed at diabetics (e.g. contain certain minerals, vitamins that may be lacking, low GI content, low fat, sugar etc...). At the moment I am really struggling to find people with diabetes who could fill in a questionnaire that would help me in completing my work.
I would be most grateful if anyone could complete it or give me any advice on being diabetic and catering for food and nutritional needs. Thanks Hannah

If so why? I won't eat fish and chips too high in fat, most chinese since its often far too high in sugar
I'm careful with unknown sauces. Pizza as difficult to dose for in more than small quantities.
Do you think the food industry cater well for your nutritional needs?
No but I often feel that their offerings are unhealthy for everyone
Does your Diabetic condition put you off eating out?
No

I should think that most people could find a restaurant/menu to suit their requirements but I would like carbohydrate counts more easily available so that I could calculate my insulin dose more accurately
What food would you usually order if you went to a restaurant? (Dessert and main meal)
varies something with meat/fish and lots of veg or salad.I sometimes have chips but would prefer to be offered new potatoes as an alternative. Dessert, fruit salad without added sugar (rarely available) chocolate mousse but usually have starter rather than dessert

Yes , not a diet but I do take the gi into account and will normally choose lower gi fruits, rice, bread etc

Yes, a couple of kilos but I am within acceptable BMI

I wouldn't normally order something I wouldn't eat!
but a fixed menu with little choice such as a Christmas menu with only Christmas pudding and mince pies for dessert would be difficult .(require too much insulin as extremely high carbohydrate/sugar content)

Courgette , Peppers , Onion, Aubergine ,tomatoes , French beans
actually, I think I like all veg except for carrots and okra.
