Quick Lunch ideas

Just wondered if anyone can recommend any quick easy lunch ideas that are good for keeping everything in check.
At the moment I usually pop into Sainsburys and have a 220g pack of cooked chicken breast pieces. I just eat it all right out the pack. I then have a small pack of almonds and then usually an apple and a pear. My drink is their flavored sparkling water.

So far the only change I have is by sometimes having their tika flavored chicken pieces instead which is still low in sugars,,but getting a bit fed up eating the same every day. We have two young kids so the mornings are usually chaos so any ideas for good quick to grab stuff would be ideal,,high in protein even better. I do like salads but they dont give me enough for going to the gym straight after work.
 
Slices of corned beef, boiled eggs, cold sausages, cheese, my favourites I love lean Polish sausage or Garlic sausage.
Plus a salad and fresh fruit pieces.
 
Olives, cheese, cherry tomatoes, nuts, chicken, anchovies, raspberries, yoghurt and berries.
 
Cheers guys will add some of these to the menu. When you say corn beef are you referring to the leaner ones? I used to love corn beef but stopped as someone told me it was bad for cholesterol.
 
I have been led to believe that dietary cholesterol is not the same as the cholesterol that clogs the arteries. Our own bodies make that. This is why we can eat eggs, which are full of dietary cholesterol.
 
D you make packed lunches for the kids? Could you make one for you at same time?

I make one for me evening before, often salad, cheese, olives, berries, nuts, seeds combos


if I have to buy something from supermarket then generally its:
Greek salad
low carb vegie salad (not easy to find!)
crustless quiche
hummus and crudites


If you eat fish :
tinned tuna /sardines/mackerel

Meat from deli counter
 
I'm eating things like greek yogurt with berries, salads, meat, cheeses, nuts, avocado mainly with a small amount of carb like a Nairns oat cracker or slice of Burgen bread depending on how much "wiggle-room" I have with my BG.
 
I've been having a Brie and pork scratchings fest recently.
Lunch of champions!

But I do understand that isn't for everyone

How about
Coleslaw
Guacamole
Hummus (but be careful, some people spike with it)
Pastrami
Cheese cheese cheese cheese cheese!
Greek yog and berries

If you cooked a chicken, once a week, ripped the meat off and added a blob of mayo, a blob of curry paste (powder doesn't taste so smooth) and a smidge of mango chutney, you would have enough coronation chicken to feed an army (or your whole family).

Intend to stack up on veg in the evenings, so go the meat fat route for lunch at work
 
There's a growing group of low carb athletes, and they seem to do ok. Australian cricket team, for some.

Have a look ar some of @borofergie 's posts. He runs while in deep ketosis, and is very pleased with the results.

Surely bulking up on muscle is more about protein than carbs? But you have to understand I'm a walker, not an anything energetic kinda person.

Have you had a rootle around the exercise threads?
 
Yeah sorry to bleat on a bit there last night ,, I was a bit down. Can be really disheartening when you are working so hard at something for someone to pass negative comments on. Thing is I didn't think I was that bad or ill looking ,, in fact I have never been fitter,, I guess tho to go from nearly 14 stone to 11.5 in a few months is always going to make people stop and take note,,,esp when they where used to seeing me more chunky.

Yes I am already taking on as much protein as I can through foods and shakes but the mags always suggest taking along with carbs for max effect. . Think I will invest in some of them LCHF recipe books and start beefing up a bit that way after the GNR and cut back on the distance running or just do one 4or 5 miler a week.

Thanks for the tips tho and I will have a look through threads you suggest

I saw my GP yesterday for the first time since diagnosis in January. I have lost 3stone 3lbs and am now very slim. As I walked through the door, she said blimey, you have lost a lot of weight and beamed at me. Then her face changed to one of total concern, and she said Oh! Is it an intentional loss? I could see her thinking ..... this woman is ill! I've never felt fitter!
