Hi everyone,

I've been away for a while but I'm back, yeey, hope everyone is ok and getting along alright with your pumps.

I was just wondering what your views were on the quick set and silhouette infusion sets?

I used to be on the quick set and I loved it - easy, painless, neat but the cannulas kept blocking, bending and eventually they stopped going in to my s/c fat so it left me high (over 20+) for hours sometimes all day... my diabetes nurse then changed me to the silhouette infusion set - well, talk about fidley!! I like it because you can see that its definately gone in but I find that it hurts a little more and sometimes I bleed a lot from it ( we aren't talking small bleeding either i'm talking tissues and plasters lol)

HAs anyone else had to use different sets and what happened to you, i.e better, worse etc???

Hi

I've got a Spirit Combo pump and was fine using the Flexlinks for many months then started to get loads of E4 occlusions on the pump which resulted in non delivery of insulin causing my bg levels to also go high. After using different sets from Accu chek - all resulting in E4 occlusions, I was starting to think that there was something wrong with the pump or myself.

I've now sorted the E4 problem but have just started to use the Tenderlink. I got to the point of not caring anymore as to whether inserting the set was going to hurt me or not, I just wanted to try and get the pump to work ok again. So far, so good. My bg levels have dropped thank G. It may look a bit frightening when you first see the long introducer needle but once the tip is inserted, the rest just slides in. Have to say though, that I am using them in my stomach - haven't tried elsewhere to find out.

Have you tried at all using a pack of frozen peas on yr tummy before you insert? It should numb the area off.

Haven't pulled a Tenderlink out yet but will keep some tissues handy

Thanks iHs, do you know, I'd never thought of putting frozen peas on my tum before hand lol. Fingers crossed this infusion set works better than the other one, glad to know I'm not the only one who has infusion set problems although I've not heard of your infusion sets before, if this one fails no doubt I'll be asking you which sets you prefer to try them out Thanks again
