Raised blood pressure!


I really hope this works for you.As a retired teacher I know what teaching stress was like and that was quite a few years ago. Is there any way you can relax? You've worked so hard to control your diabetes it's such a shame that this has happened on top. best wishes to you.
 
I'm sorry to keep moaning on about this but it's really getting me down. Despite coming off the anti-depressants and nerve painkillers my blood pressure remains stubbornly high. The GP prescribed Doxazosin which is a vaso-dilator and is going to try to refer me to a cardiologist. I say try because she has to have permission from the senior partners for any referrals and they might not agree. She is also not willing to prescribe anything to replace the anti-depressant without advice from a consultant psychiatrist regarding my blood pressure.

I've taken the doxazosin for 6 days, no change to my blood pressure but I've put on 7lbs in weight (first time the scale has ever gone up since I started LCHF in April). This is despite my having been really good over Christmas, stuck to my low carb and even went out for a 3 mile walk in the pouring rain after my Christmas dinner. The weight is obviously down to fluid retention, because my poor legs have swollen up like tree trunks and the leg with the nerve damage is now extremely painful. I've made the decision to stop taking the doxazosin and will just have to face the wrath of the GP.

I'm on holiday until 4th January and absolutely dreading going back, work is hideous at the moment (office politics) so that's not helping my BP either . So yeah, I'm feeling way too sorry for myself and need to get a grip ....
 
Your not moaning @Alzebra and it's understandable that you are worried and feeling frustrated.

The referral to see a Cardiologist seems like a sensible decision and hopefully they'll get you on the right treatment path, good luck and hope all goes well.
