random sore ears

This may be very random and maybe not diabetes related at all but maybe someone has an idea. I'm having a lot of trouble sleeping at the moment as when I lie on my side my ears go completely numb. like completely and I can't actually feel them if I touch them, until the blood runs back in and then they get excruiatingly painful. Has anyone else every experienced anything like this before? Or do i just need better pillows? I doubt it's the start of neuropathy but just incase did anyone have symptoms like this?
