Hi
Did you have alot of mash as this is counting as a carb, give it another hour and you may find it has dropped dpwn,
You can often get a spike in BS levels after eating.
Take care
Tracey

Mashed potatos are your problem. Mashing means the starch hits quicker and gives us high BGs. MUCH better to have a couple if small new potatos boiled ( not smashed!) or even roast - the fat slows down the absorption of the carbs which become sugar in the blood.
No mash!
No jacket!

Welcome to the forum lochness.

You'll find all starchy foods like potatoes (especially mashed ones) will raise your levels nearly as badly as eating sugar. Starchy foods include potatoes, rice, pasta, cereals, bread and other flour based products. Try halving all of those and up your green veg, meat, fish, cheese and eggs to compensate. On the starchy foods you keep swap to brown basmati rice, brown or tri-colour pasta as the brown versions won't raise your levels as much. Most of us find Burgen soya bread that you can get from most supermarkets to be the best.

Many thanks for your help. will give mash a miss in future.
What sort of cheese is best, i do eat a lot of veg but not enough fish have got to do my readings more to see what i can and can not eat

Keep an eye on quorn products. I used to eat quorn mince before I was diabetic as a healthier option. The quorn has quite high carbs so I have gone back to normal lean mince
