Hi, as stated I have been recently diagnosed Type II and have been told by my GP to test regularly whilst we are sorting out my drug dosages. As my husband was diagnosed some years ago, we already had a CodeFree blood glucose monitor so I have been using that. My GP said the strips could be included on my prescription. Saw him yesterday and he added them but when I tried to claim them at the chemists, they can't find CodeFree ones on their system so they can't even order them in for me. This happened at 2 different chemists, one of them being Boots. My question is, has anyone else managed to get CodeFree strips on prescription (an if so, is there a knack?). Failing that it may be cheaper to switch machines. Can anyone recommend a make that they get on prescription so I can switch?
TIA

If the codefree strips are not available on prescription, perhaps as your doctor is willing to prescribe why not ask for a meter and strips that are available on NHS?

My GP's surgery does not prescribe meters usualy but the DN has a stock of them in the surgery which she gave me one of and then prescribed strips for it at my chemists. There is no harm in asking your Dn or doctor .
