It is very sad that it's come to this. There just isn't the money in the system, even though money would be saved in the long run. Whatever Boris, Gove and Farage promised, it isn't going to happen.
I didn't expect to get a prescription from my GP, but I checked anyway and she confirmed that I wouldn't meet the criteria being laid down by the Chiltern CCG. So, no surprise there then. I was also asking about the two lumps on the back of my head, one small one the size of a coat button and one much bigger, a couple of inches across. I was told that I would not be referred to an NHS consultant because there wasn't any urgency.
So, I dug into my piggy bank, rather than claim on my insurance (don't want the premiums to go up) and had a private consultation and obviously the doctor I saw also works within the NHS. His remarks were quite interesting because he said that it was a good job I'd gone to see him, lumps have a habit of suddenly getting a lot worse. The small one will be removed on the 22nd December (will now make a claim as it costs £800), he will get a biopsy done and he will biopsy the larger one at the same time.
I wish I knew the answer, higher taxes might help, perhaps a long hard look at what the UK government spend our tax pounds on might help.
