Regular moderate exercise log

I need a rest week like i need insulin. My pecs are sore, my forearms are killing me and my shoulders feel like they can't support the weight of my arms anymore. Training with +90% of max intensity for the last 3 weeks has taken it's toll. Next week rest/deloading and then i'm ready to kick ass and chew bubble gum again and i'll be all out of gum by that time

Apparently i also have a post workout song.

It's Dutch (and a cover) but i love it lately. It's a change of pace from the heavy/death/black ... metal.

Well that's jolly good to hear, @qe5rt - I've been worrying about you!!! If it hurts, stop!

That's what I've been doing with my foot. Stopping, I mean. It's still really painful, but I've had lots of treatment on it, and am looking after it with Voltarol and massage - oh, and a 12km bike ride at lunchtime (we needed to find some lunch, Mr S needed a pint, and he had uttered the magic M word* to me) so off to the pub we went. In other news I had two little tiny, tiny brief jog-ettes today (discovered when I got to work that I had left something at home this morning so had to nip back from the workshop - just a few hundred yards, but it didn't hurt (until I stopped) - so that's something........

ONE DAY I WILL RUN AGAIN. And that had better be before the 10k event I'm doing in April, or I shall be letting down the generous benefactors in my sponsorship campaign......

Onwards and upwards!

That might be the first Dutch-language music I've heard that I like The rest all seems to be polka or recycled soft rock from the 1980's.

Hi @Snapsy. Bit of a long shot here but have you looked into using KT tape on your foot?
It's strange stuff, you may have seen athletes or sports people with multi coloured tape stuck to various parts of there anatomy.
I was very sceptical about using it , I just couldn't see how it would work.
I first used it on a bad shoulder and then a pulled quadricep. Although it's not a cure it does provide a lot of pain relief and support if you use it correctly.
Just search KT tape and body part and see what you think.
Obviously if you know of or have used it then just ignore this post.

Thanks so much for the suggestion, @therower - all in hand already! My best mate is also my osteopath - and we have a tape date tomorrow afternoon! She's going to support my foot and also tape my calf to ease the tightness. She's a genius!

A work in progress, one might say. Now I only need to decide between shocking pink or electric blue (flesh coloured is a bit too reminiscent of Elastoplast.......).

I'm sure you will be running again. Feet can take a while to heal i've found out about a decade ago now. But they do heal and it's good to see you still have that itch to do sports.

I have no bleeping idea what Dutch/Belgian music is about right now though i can't imagine polka, though lot's of small folk bands that i doubt make international press. Other than that i've been told a lot of house/techno something comes from Belgium. I stopped paying attention after the Wolf banes

WOOOOOOOOO FOOT UPDATE: This morning I went to the gym and walked on the treadmill for 30 minutes (3km) plus a cool-down, on inclines of 0, 0.5, 1 and 1.5, TO SEE IF I COULD.

And I could! Okay, so a half hour walk, not very fast - not all that impressive - but oh my goodness I feel as if my foot CAN and WILL get better. Same again tomorrow, then midweek I hope to do some interval training on the treadmill (gently!) to get my foot used to the idea. Shall also be swimming as usual.

Curiously that one 30 minute walk this morning, on a nice springy surface in my NEW SHOES seems to have rendered my foot more stable than it was BEFORE I injured it nearly 4 weeks ago.

I apologise for the shouty capitals, but I'm REALLY CHUFFED!

Have a great day, folks, love Snapsy

I did a five mile walk during Storm Doris - nearly getting swept off my feet twice! I think, as with Scottish Hilly Miles, this should count as a ten mile walk.

(I promise I kept safe - it took me longer than two hours which is unusual, as I can usually do six - seven in two hours, but it was a bit windy...)

Fifteen, by my calculations, @Japes . Five miles, plus another five for each of the two sweepings-off-feet. That's DEFINITELY fifteen......

Glad you're safe - sounds like it was blowing!

It was very blustery.

Hi folks,

Today I ran PARKRUN for the first time in aaaaaaaages - woooooo! It was BRILLIANT!

To cut a very, very long story short, we found out on Monday (after a whole load of weeks of erratic behaviour, hyperenergy, being incapable of concentrating, weight loss, hungry hungry hungry) that my (replacement) thyroxine levels are too high, and that explains why I've been wanting to be desperately, desperately exercising (it's been burning off the scary aggression, frankly).

So the whole 'mile a day in March' thing has come exactly at the right time!

Back to parkrun - you know how people say 'sorry I'm early, I got stuck behind a Porsche'? Well, it was Pacer Day, and my intentions had been to follow the 34-minute pacer..... but somehow - don't ask me how - I managed to pip the guy wearing the 'sub-30' vest to the finish line. Third best time I've run to date - after five weeks of not running outside!

Husband a bit cross at the 'overdoing it' thing.
Best mate slash osteopath quietly impressed.
I'm flipping THRILLED!

Hope all's well with everyone!

Go, @Snapsy !

After a fortnight of less walking (weather, out of routine, a bit of the "Oh, sod it"s, a massive pile of household stuff to catch up on) along a touch of carb creep, (away from home, birthdays at work) my spreadsheet is looking sadly at me, and my meter is definitely not at all happy with me!! I have given myself my sad "I am VERY disappointed in you," face.

Just made myself go out for 5 miles after supper and feel a lot better on all fronts.

Awwwww @Japes , have a big hug!

You know what? We're human, and real life gets in the way. And don't even mention the household stuff - I swear the ironing pile here at Chateau Snapsy has been BREEDING.........!!!!!!

Welcome back @Snapsy. Sounds like things are improving, foot obviously better and thyroid problems being sorted. So are we right in assuming that you enjoyed park run ?
Can't believe Mr Snapsy is a bit cross with you. I don't really know you but I would have known when you set out in the morning taking it easy would have been last thing on your mind.
P.S Buy clothes that don't need ironing. That's what my wife does, I didn't realise these clothes existed but she assures me they do.

Aww, thanks @therower ! Mr S is great, it's just he knows only too well my 'all or nothing' nature, bless him!

And I actually really enjoy ironing, given enough good quality TV in an evening. Mr S has quite a few 'non-iron' shirts in his (vast) collection. They're my favourite ones to iron.....

First workout worth mentioning today: 5x5x97,5 kg. Did not do any assistance because the last reps of the last two sets did not go well. I wonder if it's the cold (no heating system in the house atm) or that i'm just losing weight too fast. Decided to bulk up a bit and might change the routine. Shoulders still feel like i've tried to shoulder tackle a building but at least i can say that today was a bit of a PR at the current body weight.

GORGEOUS afternoon! 9km run in the spring sunshine? Don't mind if I do!!!

Just over 3 weeks until my event 10k so it's a relief and a pleasure to be out there training, rather than being tied to the treadmill. No foot twinges, so I'm very happy.

Not running on consecutive days as my ancient joints don't like it. Next stop, parkrun again on Saturday!

TWENTY NINE MINUTES EXACTLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Another parkrun PB!

As soon as I'd had my barcode zapped at the finish I then went off on a 3.5km loop around the park and then back to the car park, keeping a really comfy gentle steady pace. Enjoyed that as much as the previous 29 minutes!

The add-on run was in aid of my 10km training for the race I'm doing next month. Am no longer running on consecutive days but already I can't wait for my next run!

#gosnapsygo

How I survived parkrun + additional slow run straight after
2 boiled eggs at 7am, normal bolus rate
Libre measured 8.6 and dropping at 8.55am
Pump set to TBR of 30%
5km run start 9am
Libre measured 8.1 and dropping after the run
Pump set to TBR of 20%
3.5km gentle run start 9.35am
Libre measured 6.6 and dropping at 10am
Fingerprick test at same time 4.7
Homemade whey drink and Peperami before driving home at 6.9

A very happy sounding @Snapsy . Amazing what exercise can do not only physically but emotionally. Shame a lot fail to give it a try. Well done on the PB I know just how it feels to break a personal barrier.
