Retinopathy after laser

I had laser treatment before Christmas, I have just gone back for a check up and all is clear!

I haemorrhaged suddenly in both eyes just over two years ago. I had extensive lasering, vitrectomies on both eyes, and then some more lasering. Apart from losing my night vision I have been fine since, and resumed my Open University studies. I saw the specialist for a check-up four weeks ago and everything was fine.
I've just (5 hours ago) haemorrhaged in the right eye. I'm typing this in the middle of the night because I am unable to sleep. I'm a bit upset, to put it mildly.
I suppose I'll have to change my login name now.

So sorry to hear that Christine. I can empathise. recently had a cataracts op together wirth an avastin injection tto sop the retinal bleeding. Nothing stops my retinal bleeding. I was almost totally blind in the eye which was operated on because of the disease and previous procedures.
Although the cataracs op was successful the surgery made he bleeding worse despite the avastin.
Its disheartening to say the least isn't it?
I sincerely hope that something can be done and that the effects are minimal. Let us know how you get on. I am not surprised you couldn't sleep

I had extensive laser 15 years ago...they lasered every bit of my eyes that they could. It was a real wake up call for me. My control has improved dramatically since then...not perfect, but so much better.

I have been going back for check ups with the hospital every 6 months or so. At my last visit they said...well, there has been no change in 15 years, so we are going to discharge you back to the screening service!

Not sure how this will go, and never like to say things are wonderful...becasue you just never know, but so far, so good. I was only 25 when I had laser...so very young. I have teh 3 years tests for my driving licence...and they have gone OK too...last year I scored my best result since I started with them. It really is down to control though.

Hope this is a little bbit reassuring. I had no hemoraging at diagnosisi...so I hope they caught it just in time, and that my relatively good control are giving me a good chance.

I've had Laser in both eyes but more so on my left one. They say they're running out of space and I might need an op to replace the fluid in my eye with a saline solution and sort out some scar tissue thats pulling on the vessels. Anyone know what this is all about?.
My vision in this eye is surprisingly good despite what its been through but last Friday It hemorrhaged and now I have this annoying cloud passing over the center of my vision every time i move my eye up down left and right!. Its like looking through murky water .
My vision is fine when this cloud passes to the peripheral edge of my vision but I'm wondering if I drink lots of water and make sure my blood glucose levels are spot on, will this clear up until my next appointment?.

The op you refer to is called a vitrectomy where they replace the vitreous gel of the eye with a solution, this clears the eye of previous bleeds and if necessary allows the surgeon to carry out further laser treatment whilst under anesthetic. I had a kidney/pancreas transplant in March 08 Straight after the Transplant I had bleeds in both eyes. I had vitrectomy surgery in both eyes including laser treatment. My vision is now fine.
