This is a webpage by somebody who cured their diabetes through physical exercise and diet.

He chronicles his progress really well, and he is no fool, having been educated at cambridge in mathematics.

I post you the most relevant sublinks from his webpage but have a look around.

He used an ogtt to measure his progress and by all accounts he managed to reverse his diabetes.

I was diagnosed with Metabolic Syndrome, which includes T2 in 2008. After losing 6st through Slimming World diet and exercise, I have gone from 2 Byetta injections & 1500g metformin a day to no meds for the past 6yrs.
In 2014, I was told by my endo consultant that I was now one of 1% of people who had reversed their diabetes. He said that I will always be Diabetic but I am not symptomatic. He has never mentioned a Glucose Tolerance Test. I have HbA1c done every 6 months and see my endo every 2yrs. I am now on LCHF diet and am on the way to losing 7st HbA1c sits from 5.1-5.3 (32-34) and most days it's 4.8-5.0 So I wouldn't ever use the word "cured"

Well diabetic it is just a lable

I think a lot of it depends on how your medical practice defines it. A friend of mine had an hb1c of 40 and was told he had reversed his diabetes after 18 months whereas my hba1c is now 36 from 41 2 years ago and I am still classed by my practice as being diabetic. Makes me wonder if they get funding for every diabetic they have on their register!
