Hi according to an IVANHOE Medical Breakthroughs web page Doctors at the Joslin Diabetes Center in Boston Mass, Sasalate an old drug for treating Arthritis has been used to lower blood sugar in Diabetes trials. Salsalate reduces infamation in joints, it has now been found to do the same in other tissue and as a result of this it helps to reduce Insulin resistance. Is this a form of Aspirin?
Any thoughts on this?
Salsalate is molecularly similar to aspirin, not exactly the same but pretty much. It comes under the class 'non-steroidal anti-inflammatory'. Given recent research it is highly likely that an inflammatory response is the reason for hyperglycaemia in a sub-group of people labelled 'diabetic'.
