In case it has not been noted before may I draw your attention to the Sanofi-aventis announcement of the upcoming launch of the blood glucose meters BGStar® and iBGStarTM (developed by sanofi and its partner AgaMatrix), which should be available in early 2011.
iBGStar can be plugged into an iPhone or iPod touch and displays results on a full-color, touch screen.
Lots about the software but cannot see much about the sampling... 8)
