Hi Nicola,
Your physio is right, it is too early to say what the outcome will be.
Put simply, the nerves in a particular region of your spine that travel to your ankle are being compressed by a protruding disc and the physio is being used to help release that nerve. It does take time and you may find it painful but in 90% of cases, the nerve is restored Some people end up having surgery but it is too soon to say if that will be necessary for you.
If you are prescribed any exercises and dos and don'ts then do follow these instructions as they will help too. Are you still taking the painkillers?
You are so young to experience all this pain and I do feel for you.
Take care and ((((hugs)))) for you.
