SD Codefree meter, no Control Solution.

I've started to use my new SD Codefree meter tonight. I have have 1 Check Strip, but no control solution. Should there be some in the box? On the packaging listed under contents it says SD control solution (option) If it's not there, why listed under contents Is it something that I really need?

Because it is optional. They won't send any unless you ask, and you have to pay for it.

I have it's not that expensive and I check my meter at least once a week or with the first test strip from a new batch.
