Second pregnancy following diabetic nephropathy in first

Hello. I am a 34 year old type 1 diabetic. I've been diabetic for 32 years. I have a two year daughter following a tricky pregnancy. The doctors could not confirm whether I had per-eclampsia or diabetic nephropathy, due to the symptoms being similar. I would like very much to have a second baby but my family are very concerned that the troubles I had the first time round will be even greater a second time. I spoke to an Obsterician recently who said the same thing will PROBABLY happen again. Is there anyone out there who had a similar first pregnancy but decided to go ahead with a second despite the risks? Or did you decide that the risk was too high. I now have regular laser eye treatment following my first pregnancy but that's the only lasting complication. Thanks in advance.
