hi,

Is there a good time to add seeds to our food or should we just take them separately on their own with a drink (water is probably best) :?:

I know that chia seeds do not need to be ground and have a longer shelf life compared with linseed (flax seed). :idea:

What other seed have health value. :?:

Is there any true benefits for type 2 diabetes from these products. :?:

I eat Pumpkin Seeds everyday Roy as they contain a good range of vitamins, minerals and high levels of essential fatty acids, as a small snack they are very nice or sprinkled on food of your own choosing, just be careful with the quantity if you are very low-carbing.

The health benefits of seeds are helpful to overall health diabetes or not.

I shall get some today.

I am on the so called "The Reverse Diet", Dr Neal Bernard's program. ( started 4 months ago )

It has been beneficial to me, however dare I mention, the only time I have cheated is the odd tin of Sardines in tomato sauce.( eaten of coarse )

I thought it would be difficult as I am not a vegan. (this diet is partly vegan ). Actually most of the meals are really nice.

You probably now can understand why I am looking forward to my pumpkin seeds tonight.

How do you get those Winston Churchill quotes in your notes, ( he is my hero )

I have all kinds of seeds, pumpkin, sesame, caraway, omiga mix, etc. I add them to baked goods (home made low carb) salads, yogurt. The chia seeds I have with yogurt, fruit (berries) and flax, but did just have a spoonful yesterday to try the dieting claims. Seeds are very healthy and nutritious, the only caveat is to watch out as they are calorie dense, but so good for us.

I love famous quotes and stumbled across this one on the net by chance, thought it very adapt to how I think.

Good luck on 'The Reverse Diet' Roy, I've not heard of this one (there's so many around) and hope the pumpkin seeds are a good addition to your diet

Thanks Noblehead for advise. The pumpkin seed were great.

The best part was when in supermarket today I picked a bag of Pumpkin seeds at about £1.99p,
however my wife took me to the baking section and showed me where pumpkin seeds the same weight only cost £1.20p. (being Scottish this must be good).

I use pumpkin seeds daily especially as a snack (a desert spoon and a small piece of fruit) and I make pesto using seeds and pumpkin oil which I have with wholemeal spagetti. I use a mixture of milled pumpkin, sunflower and flax on my yoghurts and cereals daily. Hasn't luckily had any affect on my weight and have lost two and a half stone in 12 weeks. I always have them in the car for snacks or if a meal is late. really keeps my sugars level. I get mine from Holland and Barrett when they have their buy a second bag for a penny.

Don't forget the parmesan. I have with a watercress tomato and onion salad with a small dressing of pumpkin oil, lime and apple vinegar, I'm addicted.
