Self isolate or continue to work? Advice needed.

Hi. As far as I’m aware the government is making an announcement tomorrow or Monday and you’ll be contacted directly by e-mail by your dr about what to do? I work in a school and although it’s still open with limited staff, the deputy head came to see me on Wednesday and sent me home because I’m on ‘that list.’ I’m thinking I’ll be off 12 weeks but it’s not clear is it? I’ve been type 1 for 44 years and epileptic and am now newly coeliac. Anyone in Coeliac UK got an e mail today to see although we are not on that official list, we may have compromised immune systems if our spleens don’t work ( no idea, it’s never been tested ) and we should limit social contact. If I were you I’d look at your contract for sick pay and see your HR manager. They may be happy for you to go on full pay ( maybe ask your union if you are in one ) but I’d stress you are more likely to catch it being coeliac, but the implications are worse being type 1 diabetic. I’ve found lots of people are ignorant of diabetes so maybe print out the data before you go in. I am self isolating properly now after a few false starts, and even shouted through the letter box at a nice neighbour who’d had it 5 days ago( I know .... ) that I couldn’t come out to see her! This is the NHS advice. I don't think we can or even should form our own opinions to give advice. It isn't even something that depends on personal choice.

Everyone should do what they can to stop coronavirus spreading.
It is particularly important for people who:

• are 70 or over
• have a long-term condition
• are pregnant
• have a weakened immune system

If you are in one of those categories:

• wash your hands with soap and water often – do this for at least 20 seconds
• always wash your hands when you get home or into work
• use hand sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available
• cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when you cough or sneeze
• put used tissues in the bin immediately and wash your hands afterwards
• avoid close contact with people who have symptoms of coronavirus
• only travel on public transport if you need to
• work from home, if you can
• avoid social activities, such as going to pubs, restaurants, theatres and cinemas
• avoid events with large groups of people
  use phone, online services, or apps to contact your GP surgery or other NHS services
  
  I hope that you are able to do what you should do. I've restricted my travels to visiting the co-op at 07:00. It's not full proof or a guarantee of not getting it or worse still giving it to someone else. I keep my distance and only touch the things I'm buying.

I’m in the same situation I’m still working but I am type 1 . I’m in the UK so it’s not as bad here yet but don’t know if I should wait to go off or continue for a week or two - it’s so hard

those that will be contacted are

• people who have received an organ transplant and remain on ongoing immunosuppression medication
• people with cancer who are undergoing active chemotherapy or radiotherapy
• people with cancers of the blood or bone marrow such as leukaemia who are at any stage of treatment
• people with severe chest conditions such as cystic fibrosis or severe asthma (requiring hospital admissions or courses of steroid tablets)
• people with severe diseases of body systems, such as severe kidney disease (dialysis)

Diabetes are in the group strongly advised to follow social distancing as much as you can and to significantly limit your face-to-face interaction with friends and family if possible, as opposed to just advised for the rest of the population.
