Sharps bin

I phone the local council, they come and take the old sharps bin and give me a new one. South Wales
 
You could simply stuff a bit of tissue into the recess at the back over the sharp end but as it's up inside the plastic why stick your finger up there anyway.
The end of the needle is level with the surrounding plastic, so enough pressure to pick it up is also enough pressure to stick yourself. I know, I just need to be more careful, but I'm a natural klutz.
 
With my sharps bins, we take to the GP and trade it for an empty one that is what I think.
