When you get your Hba1c test done and all that includes (cholesterol, thyroid etc), do you have that done as a fasting test? Mine have never been done as fasting tests but I've now read in Bernstein's book lipids tests should be fasting ones.
I know it seems like I'm always asking questions on this forum but it's the only place I trust the answers to be correct.

I've never gone for an Hba1c fasting. The only one I did that for was the Fasting Blood Sugar and the GTT.I have never been told to fast for this as it is an average over a month it would not make any difference if you fast or not.

You don't need to fast for HBA1c but you should fast for 12hours for lipid tests.

Right, thanks, Sue. So when Bernstein says the lipid profile should be from a fasting test, I assume that only happens in the States then? I only ever have the yearly Hba1c blood tests(which includes cholesterol at the same time), no others. Is that the same for everyone on here?
