Should I Notify My Motor Insurer

Unkind people, failure to take personal responsibility.
I am a T2 recently diagnosed with no meds, just LCHF which has brought all my markers into the non-diabetes range via LCHF.

Is there a requirement for me to notify my motor insurer?

I think the main concerns for the driving standards agency and insurers are medication and overall health.

If I were you, I'd tell them anyway. Insurance companies are a necessary evil and will look for any excuse to avoid paying out in the event that you have an incident.

When I notified the DVLA and insurance it had zero impact on my premium.

Someone else who is a T2 will point you in the right direction though! But any changes to your health you should really make these people aware.

I'm the same as you @KevinPotts . I've not told my car insurers but someone on here advised I should, so when it comes up for renewal this summer I will notify them, although in reality I don't return diabetic HbA1cs.
 
I haven't notified my insurers because I'm not on any meds. I didn't think you had to unless you're on meds? I did notify my life insurance company because that's differenter - my premiums tripled as a result!
 
I notified the DVLA and my insurer. The DVLA eventually sorted themselves out and said that T2's didn't have to notify them and the car insurance didn't really care much. I think that if I didn't notify the insurer and then had an accident then they would have found a reason to care a lot more and not paid out.
 
Being diabetic came in useful when we applied for an annuity.
Much better rates because they don't expect us to live long!

I notified my insurer, made no difference to the premium. Didnt make any difference to travel insurance either

Squire, it's even better if the applicant has hypertension too, or any other condition. It sort of works on a cumulative basis.

The impaired life annuity market is massively under utilised.
 
I notified my Insurance Co as I wanted to cover all bases. They basically said that if the DVLA were happy for me to be on the road, then they didn't need to know, but would record that I was diabetic as I had told them. My insurance premium was not increased.

In the event of an accident, they have no wriggle room now !!!

Only time you contact the DVLA if you are on Insulin, as your licence will be checked every three years. I was on Insulin years ago, not know.
