Please can anyone help me with the following side effect problem? The situation in a nutshell -
I was diagnosed Type 2 about 15 years ago. The medication (Gliclazide, Linagliptin and Metformin), introduced about 5 years ago because of my age, seems to taking the skip out of my step and I can't walk properly. In fact I am reduced to hobbling around slowly - it's hard work and very tiring!
There are no problems with my joints, but my legs don't feel like they belong to me as I have always normally been a brisk walker which in the first decade of my diagnosis was an advantage in keeping my blood sugar levels normal. I am told by my Doctors that they have never heard of this side effect symptom.
Recently I risked leaving the medication off for 24 hours as a trial - it was so good, I felt so fit and healthy and my legs were back to normal.
Now in my mid 80's I really don't want to give up walking and exercise, but the medication seems to be making things very difficult - has anyone got any thoughts or had experience of this that may help?? Thanks.
