Significant changes??? and worry

About a month ago I went for my annual eye check.. then a couple of weeks ago I had a letter saying there had been significant changes and if there was a need to see the consultant they would right to me. Cue a bit of a panic and worry then eventually calming down as I read posts on here. I went straight out and bought some bilberry extract and lutein and have been taking that for the past 2 weeks.

Just got the letter referring me to the hospital today and although Im still a bit stressy about it Im not panicking like the last letter.

The thing is my bg levels have been very good since I started low carbing back in march (though I have had the occasional hiccup on birthdays but Im only human).

It just got me thinking as I still don't completely understand retinopathy but a month or 2 before the eye test I had picked up some kind of bug although I was vomiting that much when I did it was quite violent and caused a couple of the little blood vessels you can see at front of your eye to leak a little.. could this be what they detected? Im hoping so.
 
I don't think the little blood vessels will have had any connecition. I really would urge you not to panic though.
Its the same with all screening programmes. they don't seem to understand the panic hese letters cause . Significant changes doesnt usually mean anything of the kind.

Going to the eye clinic may be the best thing as you will be able to discuss it with someone face to face instead of being at the mercy of a mass produced form.
You may not see a consultant just a member of his'her staff and they may well be able to reassure you that here is nothing to worry about. If you do see a consultan then - better sill - you will have the best advice from the start.

I understand the panic, but even if you have had some change to your reina here is no need at all to panic. It doesn't mean that blindness is imminent.
Try not to worry . I think "hey " shoukld review the wording of these forms. I am sure you will feel much better about it after your appointment.i

I think tat the problem with the screening program is that our eyes are screened by competent but overworked screeners who categorize inadequately the result which is summarised by uneducated morons with inadequate communication skills in a batch process.The resulting mess is left to the specialists to clean up the inacuracies/scare stories.
 
What a relief after all the worry I had my appointment at the clinic today and it was good news.

The only thing they could see was one small microaneurysm in my left eye, no signs of leaking and they said it is most likely it will heal in time. I do wish they would think more carefully about the wording of the letters they send out, and the stress they can cause.

The only other issue is when the nurse was doing the usual checks before I went in my blood pressure was a little high. We put that down to the fact I was nervous about the appointment and there was a man down the corridor that for some reason kept screaming which only added to my anxiety.

I have know several people wih the Micro aneurysm problem . In each case it has cleared up by itself.

In my eye clinic they only do BP checks at the first appointment or obviously, if they are performing surgery. I think it would have been surprising had your bp not been raised.
