hello all, i am newly diagnosed type 2 in july this year. In January i went skiing & was totally exhausted every day. i now know that diabetes & altitude were the cause. I was also eating energy bars, energy tablets & mars bars to help give me energy but i understand it was having the opposite effect.
Is there anyone on here who has had a similar situation & if so how did you overcome it ? Since the initial diagnoses' i have lost 1 1/2 stone & my blood/sugar level has dropped from 77 down to 48 & I am eating a lot healthier. I am 62 & still want to ski !!!
thanks for reading & any help would be greatly appreciated.

According to your profile you're on metformin only, which is very unlikely to cause hypos.
I'm guessing the tiredness last time was caused by constantly driving your blood glucose up with all those sugars and carbs.

If I were you, I'd try to be fuelling on low carb stuff for energy next time, stuff your pockets with hard boiled eggs and sausages instead of bars.

I too think you will find it a very different experience now. Just eat low carb (which is different to eating "healthily") and take cheeses or olives and plain nuts as easily transportable non refrigerated snacks

Thought I’d replied but still trying to negotiate the website!! Thank you for both replies & this season we are self catering so I can manage my own food & have enough energy
