Type 2 Skin itching when sun on it

So I’ve noticed last few weeks whenever I sit outside my skin itches of the sun is on it too long.

Never had this before.

The only thing that’s changed is the diabetes.

Does diabetes affect the skin and being out in the sun.
 
It's quite important to keep in mind that not all ailments or symptoms are caused by Diabetes. If any symptom persist then see a GP or mention it to DN.

Itching as in dry or itching like an insect bite?

Neither just like the sun is on it and it’s too hot. But it happens quite quickly.

Only reason asking is had it before but after hours and hours.

Not bites. Almost like burning but I’m
Not burning.

Oh I know but only thing changed since last summer is the diabetes.
 
I have not experienced skin problems associated with diabetes.
However, if my BG is high any pain, sniff, cough, itch, ... is exaggerated.
So, if I had drier skin than usual and a high BG I would not be surprised if it felt more itchy than usual in the sun.

So, check your BG.

Any visible signs.. spots or pimples?

Nope nothing. Last tine it was near my toes then I went in shade and it disappeared. Today it was my arms. Bit only a small patch near hands not the whole arm even though all was in sun.

In my own experience of this, it was found to be the medication. Check with ur gp or dn.

It says severe allergic reaction and itchy skin is one of them but doesn’t mention sun sensitivity.

Just feels like my skin doesn’t like the sun as much.

Which isn’t a bad thing

True but it isn’t that bad.

I’ll keep an eye on it.

I get the sun when I’m in the car anyway.

There was recently some stuff about how much UV was blocked out by modern glass.

Tobe honest, if it is consistent, then a trundle off to the Doc, or nurse, is worthwhile. I'd agree it would be good to have your VitD levels checked, as a decent proportion of folks in the UK are running low on it. The NHS threshold for diagnosing a defficiency is very low, in my view. I prefer my own levels to skirt around the 100 mark.

I was found to be defficient last year, following my thyroid beginning to struggle, so had a loading course of D3 +K2, then continued to supplement at a lower dose, through the winter. I paused my supplement whilst spending 2 months in SE Asia. Even though I was outside, a lot, in the sun, my levels didn't soar in quite the expected way. My blood test was the same before and after all that natural sunshine.

Not so long ago, someone pointed out to me a paper suggesting a goodly proportion of VitD created from sunshine on the skin is actually washed away.

There is one possibility:
I developed a sun allergy suddenly just before the oral exam for my French O Level, and my arms, face and legs were covered in a fine red itchy rash. It then happened every summer, and wearing sandals was a misery as my feet itched all night. I realised that it was a combination of grass pollen and sunlight, even though I didn't have traditional hayfever.
A few years ago it improved, and rarely bothers me, but I have developed a few other allergies over the years.

Never noticed any skin itches being out in the sun here in Australia since I have had diabetes.

You probably need to slip, slop, slap with a quality sunscreen...
