I'm on a low carb diet for weight loss and to meet my daily protein I was eating mostly canned Skipjack tuna in brine which is cheap and easy to eat and has lots of protein, 24 grams per 100 grams. I recently found out that Tuna has mercury and you could get mercury poisoning from it? I was eating like 3-4 tuna cans of 100 grams per day until I found out this. How much tuna per day/week is it safe to eat to not get mercury poisoning?
I think there is lots of info about mercury in tuna on the WWW.
I have to ask, is there a reason you consumed up to 400grams a day? Could you vary your diet to get protein from another source?
