Slow cooker


Yep, that is the one we have. Hubby threw away instructions cause (no offence to anyone, he is a man and doesnt need instructions! Even though I bloody well do lol)

I have no idea how to work the thing.
 


Aw, poor kitties. We got a thing to feed ours when we go away overnight, he sits and waits for it to turn to the food then jumps out his skin when it changes haha

Ahh yes. They are really good. We only have kitties but the ones that were akin to burmese or maine coon sussed it out and could tell when it was about to produce food by a change in tone. It gave them enough time to hog the feeder. One tabby used to lie around the feeder waiting only to be pushed out by the Burmese at the vital time. One heavyweight, shaggy character has pounced and prodded it with no success other than to break one of the pegs on the flaps. We only have one tabby at the moment and he was one of those adorable cuties. Now he is 15 I think his range is limited to long standing homes and he has no patience with such things as machines. If his standard cute does not pay off NOW! he just toddles round to the next set of staff.
 
now you have a link to the instruction manual you've saved your self the cost of a new one, so go and by a nice (cheap) cut of meat and slow cook it for 8hrs................that should give me ample time to get there...........

LOL - my husband does that, too.

I've got three slow cookers, small (2 portions), big (4-6 portions) and absolutely enormous (12-16 portions) - they were all gifts and are ancient.

Even though there is just me 'n' Mr C at home I do find I use the biggest one the most. Like @Brunneria I pre-cook lots of meals to freeze for Mr C to take to work and zap in the canteen microwave. Also handy for me when he's on shift and I can't be bothered to cook for just me. The one I rarely use is the little one - it always seems a waste of time putting together a casserole for one or two when you could be making loads of it for very little more effort.

My biggest tip is (if you haven't used a slow cooker before) only put in a very small amount of liquid as the water from any veg and juices from any meat makes its own gravy.
 
Mine's from Lakeland. No timer, but on low you can leave it all day.

I do stew (with beef short ribs), chilli, roast pork, roast chicken and bolognese in mine. For the mince-based meals I use 500g mince and a TON of the glorious triumvirate of celery, onions and carrots, plus the chilli/bolog specific additional bits, and the slow cooker fits 6 big portions of stew or bolog, or 8 portions of chilli (that's homemade ready meals for a long time!). I also use it to make stock, and overnight soup.

It's a fabulous piece of kit! Slow cooker + freezer = there's always food on the table!

I will easily cook for you. There is a good chance you will end up with food poisoning but I'm willing to risk it lol

For someone who only eats chicken, I am absolutely starving now after reading all your ideas!
 
If I jump in a plane I can be there in 8 hours.
I love my slow cookers I have two. A large one and a small one. The small one has low and high settings. The large one has 4,6,8 and 12 hour settings.
I use one at least every week.

You may also end up with food poisoning but u r more than welcome..
 
When my slow cooker developed a crack, I decided to replace it with something using a metal inner pot, and also that would do a bit more than just slow cook. I ended up with one of these:

I love it more than I thought I would. I haven't yet used the slow cooker function, as the Pressure Cooker function cooks everything equally well, but in a fraction of the time. I can also cook directly from frozen. Chicken portions; 15 minutes from frozen? Meat falling off the bones baby back ribs (finished in the oven or under the grill to add the "crust", in 35 minutes. Vegetable do in 2 minutes, and so on. Those times are for when the thing has reached cooking pressure so that's not necessarily the total time from opening the fridge/freezer door to plate.

Since buying it in the Black Friday offers I have used it almost every day. and I had never used a pressure cooker before. I love the stainless steel inner pot as it's very easy to clear, but non-stick pots are also available.
 
Its amazing that some times this happens .. I am like that with Argos & Tesco !!
 
We got our slow cooker from Woolworth's here in Australia for around $50.00.

The settings are simple Auto, Low and High and there is no timer.

Here's a pix of a chicken curry we were cooking in it.

 
I find potatoes in small amounts are ok for my BG as well But as I'm trying to reduce my weight a bit more I'm staying away for now.
