Smallest meter?

The freestyle lite is about as good as it gets I think. But then a bottle of strips and the lancing device in the wallet and it becomes something that will completely fill your jean pocket. Then you've got your pen and some glucose. Then your normal stuff, phone money and wallet, keys, etc. If your a man and you don't want to carry a man bag on a summers day it can be tough!
What I would love is a small meter like the lite, discreet buttons which wont turn on in your pocket (who's ever had a flat battery after somethings been pressing against the light button?), a slot on the side of the meter to carry say 10 strips for the day and a small lancing device attached to the other side.
It really seems to me like the people who make this stuff do not consult the people using it.
Any opinions?

I use the Accu Chek Mobile that comes with the Fastclix lancet pen. The lancet pen slides in a slot on the side of the meter so it all looks like one item. The pen holds a drum of 6 lancets. No need to handle them. The strips are in a cartridge that fits inside the meter.(50 of them). No need to handle them. The whole lot comes with a convenient snap-close case. No strips, no lancets as such. All in one.
 
The meter itself looks quite a bit bigger than freestyle lite though? There's a load of different meters, but none of them seem to be perfect self contained units that can fit in your pocket. Bearing in mind you do have to carry other stuff as well.
 
If you're already carrying your phone, then this meter is a good choice. It has a tiny footprint, being just a bit larger than a cigarette lighter. I've used one now for around a year and really like it.

You will have to purchase the meter yourself, but the NHS do provide the strips on prescription. They're actually cheaper than the Freestyle Lite ones too - which is always a good thing when it comes to making alterations to your prescription.

I have also had this dilemma, but I resolved it by getting a wife. Wives always have handbags. Problem solved..
Seriously though it can be a hassle especially in the summer. I use one of those pouch things that you thread a trouser belt through. At 53 yrs old I ain't to worried about making a fashion statement.
 
I use a contour next one meter and it is smaller than any you can get up to now and is slim and you do get a lancet device separate from the meter and you get the test strips on prescription from your gp and I find it a lot better than any in the chemists and from anywhere else and I just went to bayer for it but I also have the usb and that one the only power button is on the top and it takes a few seconds to turn it on and has a rechargeable battery inside it so all you do is plug it in the mains power or the laptop or pc to charge it and lasts for months on a single charge but they are really good for not taking up room in a pocket or small bag as I have checked
 
Agreed. Wife does have her uses, chuck it all in her bag, oh yes. But is just when she lets you out on your own, lol!
 
Blimey TBF when you look an absolute minefield of meters to choose from. Free meters as well. Big profit to be made on the strips I bet! Oh yes all the drug companies are making them!
Yes the contour next one looks nice, might just apply for there free one. Still would like my old autolet mini lancing though, really hate that dial your depth rubbish.
 
I have a Freedom Lite meter with the carry case supplied with it, I dumped the Abbot lancer and replaced it with my Muliclix, and the Freedom Lite strip pot went I replaced that with a Performa strip pot as I can get my fingers in it to get a strip out. I also have a packet of two batteries and a spare lancet drum as well.

It fits in either my side or back pockets ok, not really bulky at all. Not that I really need to carry it around with me though.
 

Ditto.. Use the case on a belt or just chuck the combined unit into a pocket like a phone.. Easy..

Having said that the Contour Next USB jobbie isn't a bad bit of kit either.
Just preferred the Mobile & not having to discard blood contaminated strips.. I fancy it's ideal if you work in a "food prep" environment..
Not that I ever did. Apart from retail once...
 
Not sure if it's still made or sold but the Accu-Chek Aviva Nano is a compact and small meter and has buttons which are not easily turned on, the case for the meter is quite small too
