Hi Mat! Welcome to the forum
I like this thread because I always have my phone around me for lots of things: calls, messages, emails, etc. And other members might also be the same, so it's very handy to have apps to keep me (and hopefully others too) up to date with my food intake and readings.
I'm a t2 and I'm pretty sure that t1s also use apps for insulin doses and the like. But For me, I use: (and these are all FREE Apps btw
)
1) My Fitness App
2) DM Pacer
This app you can connect to myfitnesspal and acts as a pedometer. It records the number of steps you take during the day then it automatically links to your myfitnesspal calorie count/activity section. It also records your sugar and your readings are also compiled in a graph. Also, a nice thing about this app is the notification to remind you, "Youve been sitting for over an hour, start moving!"
3) DCUK Forum
This is a good app, because I'm always on the go and to login to the DCUK Forum (this forum) I solely use my iPhone and don't use the desktop. It keeps me up to date with the latest posts from members and get to share/learn from each other's experiences and tips. Replying would be very easy and it's just like sending an ordinary text message or facebook message. So if you're commuting to work, you can do a quick reply or browse.
4) Tactio Health
This keeps a record of your cholesterol levels, fasting blood glucose, BMI, weight. It also has "markers" ---The green markers mean your levels are on target range while the yellow and red mean at risk and high risk respectively. At the moment my cholesterol has a yellow marker meaning I have to work on it till it becomes green. The colors also indicate if you are a "cardio risk" or "metabolic syndrome risk".
5) InCheck
This is a good app and it has a nice intuitive interface. It records your blood glucose readings from out of bed to bedtime. Then it also analyzes the reading into a graph which you can send via email to your gp/ specialist or to yourself. It gives you reminders when to take your meds and your carb count during the day. It also has a food list of the things you can eat--but NOTE that some entries May not be appropriate for the LCHF diet like the bacon and cream cheese, etc. (For more info on LCHF diet, there is a low carb thread here in Food and Nutrition or go to dietdoctor.com)
These apps have been quite helpful
