Hope you don't mind me asking, but why are you not allowed metformin anymore?I struggle with IR too. I also am not allowed metformin anymore. I am tagging @Dark Horse who may be able to advise you.
I guess, if I was your GP (which I'm not because I haven't been through any of the training), I might be looking to see
- Do you measure your BG when you get shaky so you have some evidence on your meter to show your GP to back up your argument?
- have you tried anything else to lose weight?
- how can you convince her you will keep it off and not fall off the wagon in a year's time?
You may not have answers to all these questions but it may help if you have thought about it.
Because I am T2 and my HbA1c is non-diabetic now. It's my surgery's policy not to prescribe, yet others on here seem to have them for life as Metformin helps with so many other potential diseases/illnesses. I find it frustrating because my GP wants me to lose more weight, and the best way I can do this is to help my IR with metformin and exercise and a low carb diet. I find it so hard to lose weight without Metformin.Hope you don't mind me asking, but why are you not allowed metformin anymore?
If that was me, I would change surgeries!Because I am T2 and my HbA1c is non-diabetic now. You need to really get your point across and ask them what you need to do to convince them to prescribe it again.
Guess like me, you have to prove that it's worked before
Feel sorry for you
