I lost my second one to a doorjamb (after three days..aargh!) and realised that I had put it too much to the side of my arm where it was more exposed, so since then have made sure it's far round on the back of my arm so it's less likely to catch. People at work think I've got some sort of phobia about doors!

I think there is some nervousness about sticking something like a plaster to the sensor. Not sure if this is due to the glue on the plaster effecting the reading or concern about pulling the plaster off and bringing the sensor with it.
Vetrap was recommended to me to keep the sensor in place. Yes, it is designed for pets but no reason why it cannot be used on humans. It sticks to itself without sticky to you or the sensor and works in the swimming pool (it was recommended by someone who goes swimming every day). And, it comes in different colours if you want to "funk it up".
