I know that we need to be careful with our feet, but I also know that an ankle is not a foot... So just curious here.

I've had a sore ankle for a few days now that seems to be getting a lot worse. I think it's just been caused by going to the gym too much and doing some high impact training. I just wondered if there are any special precautions that I need to take with regards to diabetes.

I also have a slight numbness/tingling sensation in my big toe; obviously not related to the ankle thing, but not sure if that will pass on its own or if I should see about it.

Thanks

Thats how Gout can start in the big toe then rest of foot  just to say not all is diabetic
You will know if its gout as you will not be able to put your foot down with pain soon

Or could be Just a twisted ankle stub toe ,,, Im not a HCP

If its worrying you go and see your GP

Hiya claire. havent you just started with insulin? could it be related ? side effect? do you have any neuropathy in your feet? high impact 'can indeed' trigger pain in feet ankles n calves. For this very reason I have to keep to low impact excercise , aqua gentle aerobics and am in a gentle excersise class [am youngest in class ] on a a dodgy feet weds morning I only do half of the class or else I end up OFF my feet in agony. Also just another thought water retention can make ankles sore n achey . Anna.x

It's not me with the foot problem Anna! I was just advising Fencer to get it checked out I'm starting insulin tomorrow evening

fencer I agree with the other posters you really should go your doctor and get it checked out to be the safe side.

WHOOPS, sorry claire, meant info to help fencer! Are you looking forward to getting set up n started on insulin? Am bit dizzy today, cant you tell? Anna.x

It's the heat, well that's what i'm blaming anyway  Yes, am all set for tomorrow Have been feeling rough this past month and hoping the insulin will at least help part of that.

Fencer,

Always better to get these things checked out by a gp, perhaps for now and until you see your gp it would be wise to refrain from the high impact training.
