I have for the last couple days had a headache, this evening is the worst. Also with it a little light headed, a little nausea and cold. For the last few days my levels have been really good 5.8-6.9 mostly 6.1,6.3 and 6.4. Compared to normal figures this is lower.

I have read that because I am maintaining it lower my body is not normally used to it and thinks I am quite low on sugar, paracetamol. Is not working and I am 1 x 500mg metformin. Any advise? Typical on hols so might call into chemist tomorrow and ask pharmacy dude.

Thanks

Scot

If you have been travelling, are you keeping up your liquid intake? I find I get headaches with the Metformin (especially when I first started with it) it I didn't keep drinking plenty as it tends to dehydrate.
It could also be your body getting used to your new diet too, especially the cold bit. Do you feel better when you eat? It may be worth having some nibbles with you to keep snacking on every so often if that's the case....few nuts, cheese chunks, or the like.

Have a good holiday.

Sounds like you have Atkins flu. It is your body screaming out for carbs, as it begins to change from a food ingested machine, into a fat burning machine, as you go into ketosis. If this is the case, it should last 3-4 days, then you will end up with loads of energy and feel great.

If it's not that, then I ain't got a clue.

Normally I drink enough I have to say not drunk probably enough today though, and probably last few days, thanks.

I was kinda thinking that too, could not remember the name. Thanks

Probably not getting a lot of the fluid you used to get on your old diet; think about the drinks you don't have? Fruit? Gravy? Soups? Stews? Need to replace it with water

There is not much you can do about it, but ride the storm. The great thing, once it has passed, you will feel brilliant, and providing you keep the carbs low, won't go through it again. I like you, had to go through it, once was more than enough, and I stay low carb.

Wait for the energy burst, you won't know what to do with yourself

The points about upping your water are also really, really important. You do need to drink at least 2L a day, just water. It will also help.

Thanks guys n gals, will drink plenty tomorrow and will swim in the ocean, see if any water seeps into my body

My headache has gone this evening, but when I did have it, my eyes hurt when I looked left and right, though I am feeling ok now my eyes still hurt a little when looking left and right. I read that lowering levels quickly will cause possible eye problems a bit quicker? I am thinking to much into it or is this still an affect of "Atkins flu"? Or should I up my carbs a little from 30g?

Thanks

They don't hurt as much at all as whn I had the headache though.
