It is something you can get used to yes. But at the same time, you can also try adapting your treatment to your lifestyle.
What sort of things do you snack on? You could find alternative snacks. Nuts are a big favourite around here, because you can snack on them and you usually dont need any insulin for them... people seem to like macadamia nuts! The low carbers on the forum will be able to give you some really good advice on low carb snacks.
Learning about carbs will help you alot, so make sure it's something you familiarise yourself with. If you are on a basal/bolus regimen (MDI) then you will need to work out your carb:insulin ratio. The idea behind that is you can match your insulin to any food you eat, so you dont HAVE to cut out things like pasta, potato's and bread if you like those things that is.
It's a big learning curve but you'll get used to it! If you have any questions you can always ask on the forum!
