Statins affecting Diabetes

Statins can have some very bad side effects and should be avoided unless you have proven heart disease.

Take a look at the film Statin Nation. The full film is on dietdoctor.com along with a second film called Statin Nation II - What really causes heart disease. The first 13 minutes of Statin Nation can be viewed here ...

Doctor tried to put me on them when I was first diagnosed 11 years ago but I don't like to take any meds if I can help it so I explained that to the dr. I looked into and spoke to people about the side effects and made the decision. I started on a diet and went to the gym every day (which was a pain). I lost quite a bit of weight and my BS were "out of the diabetic range" for quite some time. Cholesterol, blood pressure have both been good. BS seems now to be creeping up, which is a concern somhave now started exercising (at home). Started a low carb diet a couple of years agombut had lapses somniw that the BS are increasing I will be stricter with the diet. I am not on any meds for Type 2. A lot of bad side effects I think with statins. I would try other ways if you can.

I had 4 yrs of statins ''because diabetics should be on it" even though my cholesterol was perfect and my blood pressure has always been good. That meant 4 yrs of very bad cramp, nothing to do with statins of course. Stopped them 1 yr ago and never had cramp since.
