Statins

Hi Peeps

My OH has just started taking statins as he suffers from retinopathy and the specialist told him to go on them as it would help his eyes, his cholestral was 5.4 and they said he should lower it and it would help. They are just 10mg ones.

He started taking them at the weekend and today he can't get his blood down at all it's staying at 10 or 11 :-(

Does anyone know if statins but your BG levels up?
 
I'm on statins and they've not had any affect on my sugar levels.
 
Not sure TBH as I don't take statins, however his Ophthalmologist is right that it's important to keep cholesterol levels below the recommended targets, it may well be just a coincidence and he is coming down with an illness, best that he monitors his levels over a few days and report back to his gp if things don't improve.
 
Thanks for your replys. I've just spoken to him now and his BS has come down now so he'll just watch them and see how he gets on (it always goes to pot when i'm not there controlling him :lol: )

We're hoping the statins work and do what the specialist said with regards to helping his eyes along
