Hi all, I was diagnosed type 2 16 years ago, at first it was diet controlled, I am now on 2000 mg of slow release metformin and 1 year ago 40mg gliclazide was added because my sugars were high. After 6 months my readings were to low and I was taken off them. Over the past 14 months or so I have suffered from stomach pain sometimes with wind sometimes not. Ive seen doctors, dieticians and consultants all to no avail. I have been on and off the tablets under the doctors guidance for the past 3/4 months and am now back on the metformin and gliclazide. But the stomach problem persists even though the blood levels are good. I feel the problem is not diabetic related but the doctors seem to think otherwise. I was wondering if anyone had had a similar problem and if so what was the solution. I am a 70 year old male.
Cheers Col

Was the farting less heavy during times you was not on Metformin?
not faring much more burping, and it doesn't change much when I'm on or off the tablets it's discomfort that changes from painful to uncomfortable and I can go 2/3 weeks without much problem then the same amount of time suffering. It's a real head scratcher. Ive had camera down the throat CT scans all clear. I'm not worried that it's serious I just want to sort it.
Cheers Col

thanks for you quick reply anyway, maybe I should take more water with my scotch. the dietician says my diet is good, her only suggestion is that I eat slowly and have seeded bread.
